There are significant differences between series motor and induction motor in working principle, structure and application. Depending on the specific application requirements, choosing the right type of motor will help improve the efficiency and reliability of the equipment. In the type of motor, series motor and induction motor are two common types. Although they may overlap in some applications, there are significant differences in their operating principles, structural characteristics and application ranges.
1. How it works
Series Motor is by connecting the armature winding and the field winding in series, so that the current is the same. This means that when the load increases, the current increases, the magnetic field strength increases, and the torque increases, so the series motor usually has a high starting torque.
Induction Motor (Induction Motor) is generated by the stator rotating magnetic field to induction rotor current, so as to achieve rotation. The rotor of this type of motor is usually a cage structure (such as a squirrel cage), and its working principle mainly depends on the electromagnetic induction phenomenon. The relationship between torque and current of induction motor is more complicated, and the torque changes relatively smoothly under different loads.
2. Structural characteristics
Series motors are relatively simple in construction, usually consisting of a fixed stator and a rotating armature. The induction motor is composed of two parts of the stator and the rotor, the stator has a plurality of windings, can produce a rotating magnetic field, the rotor is through induction to obtain rotating power.
3. Application scope
Because of its large starting torque, series motors are suitable for applications that require fast starting and varying loads, and are commonly seen in scenarios such as power tools and electric vehicles. Because of its strong structure and low maintenance cost, induction motors are widely used in industrial fields, especially in equipment such as pumps, fans and compressors.
